He recorded Nielsen's symphonies with the prestigious Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, of which he is the chief conductor. Andris Poga is a well-known conductor in Japan, having made guest appearances with major Japanese orchestras such as NHK Symphony Orchestra, New Japan Philharmonic, Nagoya Philharmonic, and PMF, and most recently, substituting for Vladimir Fedoseyev at the special subscription concert of Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra in June, 2025. Andris Poga will appear on the Lawo label. Poga, who has served as assistant conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra under Latvian-born Andris Nelsons, is now joining the lineage of Latvia's maestros, following in the footsteps of Jansons and his son, Nelsons. Poga has recorded two symphonies by Nielsen, "The Four Temperaments" and "Immortality," with the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, Norway's long-established orchestra, of which he has been the principal conductor since the 2021/22 season.A collaboration between the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, which has established itself as the foremost authority in the Scandinavian repertoire with its dedication to bringing masterpieces not only from Norway but from the entire Nordic region to audiences around the world, and Poga, whose clear music-making is recognized for its deep affinity for Nordic music, The result is music of astonishing emotional depth and breadth, from the fiery energy required of Nielsen's symphonies to the serene reflection of his emotions.
