The first Genuin album by the remarkable young virtuoso, Wataru Hisasue, is a collection of piano works by Pascal Dusapin, who is celebrating the 70th anniversary of his birth!
Hisasue has won numerous awards on the international stage, including the 2nd prize at the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition in 2025, the 3rd prize at the ARD Munich International Music Competition and the Special Prize for Commissioned Works, and the 1st prize and audience prize at the International Piano Competition in Lyon. He has won many prizes on the international stage, including the first prize at the Lyon International Piano Competition and the Audience Award.
Pascal Dusapin, a leading French composer celebrating the 70th anniversary of his birth, studied aesthetics and science, then taught himself composition in the 1970s under the influence of Yanis Xenakis. His unique compositional techniques have attracted the attention of critics and conductors, and he received the Hervé Dugardin Prize in 1979, the Académie des Arts in 1993, and the SACEM Award for Symphonic Music in 1994, among others.
This album features "Seven Etudes for Piano," one of the masterpieces of contemporary piano works, in which serene "interludes" and lively "scherzos" intermingle, combining playfulness and philosophical inquiry, and "Did it again," which was composed as a commissioned work for the semi-finals of the ARD Munich International Music Competition, and for which Hisasue received a World premiere recording of "Did it again", which won a special prize for outstanding performance. Dusapin's music, a mixture of precision and magical sound, is beautifully rendered with the highest degree of skill and tonal sensitivity.
