Philharmonia Orchestra 80th Anniversary Edition! The sixth work with Rouvali is "Life of a Hero"! Founded in 1945 by EMI producer Walter Legg, the Philharmonia Orchestra celebrates its 80th anniversary in 2025. Richard Strauss's "Life of a Hero" will be released as the sixth anniversary disc of the "Santu Conducts" series with Richard Strauss. R. Strauss is one of the most special composers for the Philharmonia. The relationship did not last long, as Strauss passed away in 1949, only four years after the Philharmonia was founded, but the Philharmonia welcomed him as conductor in 1947 and performed with him at the Royal Albert Hall. In addition, after Strauss's death, the Philharmonia premiered his last works, "The Four Last Songs," and their presence brought great fame to the Philharmonia in its early days.The first disc in the "Santu Conductors" series, which includes "Don Juan," "Alpine Symphony," "Zarathustra," and "Till Eulenspiegel" from the opening concert of Rouvali's 2021 season as chief conductor (OSIGCD720/SIGCD720), was highly acclaimed by Fanfare magazine, which said, "This Alpine Symphony is comparable to Karajan's performance. The Philharmonia's R. Strauss disc of "Don Juan", "Alps Symphony", "Zarathustra", and "Till Eulenspiegel" (OSIGCD720/SIGCD720) was highly praised by Fanfare magazine, which said "This Alps Symphony is as good as Karajan's performance", and was selected as a "Special Disc" by Record Geijutsu magazine in Japan.
