Description:
Mysteries depicted by violin and organ! Japanese commentary included! Japanese violinist Madoka Nakamaru is internationally known for her mastery of period technique! Mysterious dialogue between violin and organ, centered around the Rosary Sonata! The booklet includes Japanese commentary by both Madoka Nakamaru and Wouter Dukoninck! This album by baroque violinist Madoka Nakamaru and organist Wouter Dukoninck is centered around Biber's "Sonata on the Rosary" and weaves together works by Buxtehude, Bach, and unknown 17th century composers to create a three part work, "Life," "Suffering and Death," and "Resurrection" that explores the "mysteries" in the lives of Christ and the Virgin Mary. The three parts, "Life," "Suffering and Death," and "Resurrection," are interwoven with works by Christ and the Virgin Mary, and the music depicts the "mysteries" in their lives as the original "Ring of the Rosary," a remarkable work with deep spirituality. Madoka Nakamaru graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music with a Bachelor's degree in Violin, and completed her Master's degree in Baroque Violin at the same university in 2006. She received a scholarship from the Agency for Cultural Affairs and the Belgian government to study with Sigiswald Kuijken at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels, where she received her diploma in 2009 and completed her master's degree in baroque violin.Currently based in Belgium, he is widely active as a soloist and chamber musician, and has been invited by numerous orchestras as concert mistress, as well as participating in numerous CD, TV, and radio recordings, including a public performance at the Belgian Royal Court in 2015, which was broadcast worldwide. His repertoire ranges from religious to secular music, and he is internationally acclaimed for his deep musicianship and historical approach. In this album, too, he beautifully presents the possibilities of the baroque violin through exquisite and poetic interpretations that make full use of the scordatura. What distinguishes this CD above all is the multi-layered thematic structure. In addition to the content-based structure centered on the three mystical cycles, the stills fantastiques are the connecting element, a mode of expression that reached its zenith in both Biber and Buxtehude. This free, technical, and expressive style is open to unpredictable developments of leaps, silences, bold harmonies, and improvisational virtuosity.Nakamaru and Dukoninck embrace this freedom with a natural musicality that keeps the listener focused and engaged."
