The second release to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the British contemporary music label NMC is the debut disc of Slide Action, an up-and-coming British ensemble pursuing the possibilities of trombone! Since its formation in 2018, the trombone quartet "Slide Action" has won first prize in the International Trombone Society Quartet Competition (2019), first prize in the Royal Over Seas League Mixed Ensemble Competition and the Philip Jones Prize (2020 In the fall of 2023, the orchestra will tour Europe for the first time, with six sold-out concerts. He also participated in the Britten Pears Young Artists in 2021-22, working with numerous emerging and established composers. Highlights include the world premiere of Robin Hay's concerto for four trombones and orchestra, THE DREAMERS, and the slide-action show Rebuilding the Trombone, featuring eight new works.Members of the Quartet have performed with major orchestras, bands, and shows around the UK, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, and Halle Orchestra. This album began with a show featuring music specially commissioned by world-renowned British composers that premiered at the Oldborough Festival in 2022. In their pursuit of new ways to present music, it was not enough for them to perform these new works in a regular concert compilation, so they placed "interludes" composed and arranged by the members between the commissioned works, connecting incidental music like scene changes in a play and inviting the audience to move from one work to the next. The audience is invited to move from one work to the next. Please look out for this powerful work that captures the "now" of these musicians, who are working with composers and artists to build a new musical legacy for the trombone! Tokyo M-Plus
