George Crumb (1929-2022) is one of the greatest American composers of our time, who has made great achievements as a pioneer of new musical language and sound. This is a memorial album dedicated to George Crumb by pianist Yoshiko Shimizu, who was fascinated by Crumb's music and is one of the leading Crumb performers in Japan, and includes Crumb's "Macrocosmos I-III," which was released in 2019 to high acclaim and selected as a "Special Recording Art Disc" ( 0015029KAI/P0015029KAI), the long-awaited second Crumb album features the fourth work in the "Macrocosmos" series, the four-hand (and partially six-hand with the addition of a score-turner) linked piece "Dynamics of the Heavens," for two amplified pianos The first set of tableaux, "Zeitgeist" and the second set, "Otherworldly Echoes," were performed by Shimizu Yoshiko alone using multiple recordings (she is the only pianist to have realized these works as "solo" pieces). ) She also studied the works in depth while deepening her friendship with Crumb himself, and her special techniques have been thoroughly researched to complete this supreme album.
