Description:
Giselle, a village girl, loves to dance. She falls in love with a young man named Lois. The two like each other so much that Giselle even considers marrying him, but Hilarion, who has always loved Giselle, is jealous. Then one day, a group of nobles arrived in the village. One day, a group of nobles arrive in the village, and among them is a beautiful woman named Bathilde. Giselle feels close to her because she, too, has a fiancé. But then Hilarion arrives and reveals Lois' identity. To her surprise, he is Albrecht, Bathilde's permitted marriage. Giselle is pessimistic... This "Giselle" is based on an Austrian folk tale introduced by Heine. The main story is about daughters who lose their lives on the verge of marriage, become the fairy Willi, and make a man who wanders into the forest in the middle of the night dance until he dies. The original Giselle is shocked to learn the truth and dies, but Peter Wright changed the story to one in which Giselle takes her own life. This is a feature that sublimates the story into an even more love-hate story.The two leading roles in this production will be played by Marianela Nunez, who danced Giselle for the first time in 2009 and has certainly taken hold of the role, and Muntagirov, who performed a wonderful Albrecht in the Japan tour in 2016. Giselle, who is transformed into Wili by her lover's betrayal, but never stops loving him. Nunez's dignified dance reflects the purity of Giselle's heart. The beautiful stage and costumes are another highlight of the Royal Ballet. Naxos Japan
