Born in Beijing, Tianwa Yang is one of the hottest violinists in the world today, and began playing the violin at the age of four. Klaus Heimann, the general manager of NAXOS, was the first to recognize her talent, and he backed her up to the hilt. He has been further refining her talent. She will perform the violin concertos by Tchaikovsky and Brahms. Both have a beautiful sound of "D major," and although they were composed in the same year, 1878, they have distinctly different personalities: Tchaikovsky has "both delicacy and passion," and Brahms has "solemn and profound sound. (Tchaikovsky, incidentally, is a critic of Brahms's music). Here Tianwa Yang is energetic and extremely emotional.As you know from her previous releases of Sarasate, Mendelssohn, Vivaldi, and Rihm, her technique and expression are impeccable, but here, too, she gives a wonderful performance as if she were giving it all she has. This can be felt just by listening to the first 10 seconds of the Tchaikovsky introduction. Under Lande's sensitive direction, her beautiful sound brings out the beauty of the clear melody, and she adds her own unrelenting emotion to it. This is a moving performance. In the Brahms, she showed her ability without regret, and you could feel the tension and comfort in her hands throughout the entire work.
