Description:
Italian composer Carlo Domeniconi is highly acclaimed for his numerous guitar works, including the "Mediterranean Concerto" (8.573977). In this album, we can hear a rare work for guitar and mandolin duo. The fusion of his Western and Eastern music can be heard throughout this collection, especially in the "Temple Music" and "Palace Music," where the oriental melodies are especially distinctive. In "Durandarte," which depicts the itinerant life of a medieval knight, the audience is treated to heartrending love songs and laments, and in "Tarantulas Grew Up Too Fast," a frenzied dance piece. The performance is by the MAHLE Duo, who have been performing together since 2004. All the songs on this album, with the exception of "The City and the Eye," were written for the two of them.
