Born in Slovakia, Moisez became a professor at the Bratislava Music Academy (Slovak School of Music and Drama) in 1929, where he trained many young musicians. He also served for a time as the music director of the Slovak Broadcasting Company Limited, the national radio station in Slovakia, and devoted himself to the development of music in this country. Together with Eugen Suhonnyu and Jahn Zyckel, he is regarded as one of the most important Slovak composers of the 20th century, and his works incorporating folk music have gained increasing recognition in recent years. The album includes Symphonies Nos. 5 and 6, written in 1947-48 and subtitled "By the Legacy of a Dear Father," a tribute to his father, Mikuláš, who taught Moízés the music.
