Now comes an even fuller sounding collection of guitar trios and quartets by early Romantic composer Royer (1768-1852). A composer of the same period as Beethoven, Royer was the best guitarist of his time, but also a soldier belonging to the French royalist faction and led a tumultuous life, being involved in the revolution and achieving a high position at the court of St. Petersburg. However, his works are elegant and graceful. His works are elegant, graceful, and innovative, incorporating dances and variations within a well-defined form.
