This is a collection of wind band works by American composer Kenneth Fuchs (1956-), who won the 61st Grammy Award for Best Classical Compendium for his collection of works conducted by Joan Falletta (8.559824). Hooks composed his first wind band work while in high school, and later studied symphonic wind orchestration under Alfred Reed, and then under Persichetti at the Juilliard School, where he deepened his knowledge of wind band works. Fuchs has written wind band works for many organizations, including the U.S. Air Force, and the works on this album were commissioned by various organizations and individuals. You can enjoy seven unique works that make the most of the characteristics of the instrument, including two "Pastoral Songs" inspired by paintings Hooks loved, a saxophone concerto, and a fanfare.
