Description:
The protagonists of this album are the Sephardi (Jews who settled in Spain and Portugal around the 15th century), a persecuted minority who were forced to leave their homeland. While wandering, the Sephardi did not abandon their traditions, but integrated themselves into the communities in which they settled, passing on their own music and culture. The songs of the Sephardic people express love, joy, and sorrow in a lively, yet somehow melancholy and beautiful way. The voice of Yaniv Dorr, who is himself of Sephardic descent, reminds us of the strength of human beings who live on strong, no matter what their circumstances. Recorded in 2015, conducted by Amit Tiefenbrunn and performed by Yaniv Dor (countertenor) and others. (C)RS
