Born in Hiroshima, Japan, Naoko Akutagawa began piano lessons at the age of three and switched to harpsichord playing at the age of 16. Naoko Akutagawa, a graduate of Toho Gakuen School of Music, studied under Chiyoko Arita and is currently active mainly in Germany. She has already released four albums on the NAXOS label, all of which have been highly acclaimed by lovers and researchers of ancient music. Perhaps the secret of her popularity is not only the excellence of her performances, but also the depth of her love for the music of unknown composers, which she brings to light and revives in the present day. This year's program also features a work by the little-known composer Gottlieb Muffat (1690-1770). Gottlieb was the son of Georg Muffat, court organist to the Archbishop of Salzburg, who, like his father, followed a musical career and sang in the Vienna court choir. He later served as principal organist at the court of Maria Theresa. He left behind several keyboard works in the tradition.He also interacted with his contemporaries Bach and Handel, and they are known to have influenced each other. Among his works, track 8, "Musical Works No. 7" is relatively well known as a chaconne, but Gottlieb's work heard here is magnificent and magnificent, and together with the powerful tone of the harpsichord, which has a low center of gravity, it stands as a wonderful masterpiece.
