Composer Daniel Poole and conductor Laflewski have been in a relationship of trust since they first met in 2000. After the U.S. premiere of "Symphony for Strings" in 2016, Laflewski attended the premiere of "Speaking to Aphrodite" and was treated to soprano Schaeffer's singing. He then proposed to Danielpour the recording of three works, including "Kaddish" for violin and orchestra, and he acted quickly, actually completing the recording in April 2017. A woman contemplating her own death meets the goddess of beauty and love in a dream and regains the joy of life in "Talking to Aphrodite. The lush solo by Sarah Schaeffer, who also soloed in the premiere, is a must-hear." Taken from a passage in "The Elegy of Solomon," "Love and Death are Strong" was originally composed as String Quartet No. 6, and an arranged version was premiered in 2014 with Gergiev conducting. Kaddish is a memorial to Danielpour's father, who died in 1977. It is a reflection on life, death, and peace. Naxos Japan
