A project commemorating the 110th anniversary of Kubelík's birth, this 5-CD set contains 8 masterpieces of Kubelík's intensive recordings with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra on the former EMI label in 1960 and the following year! Each disc is arranged in a way that the coupling of the first release is preserved as much as possible. World's first SACD release! Newly reissued from the original analog master tapes. These recordings made in 1960 and the following year for the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the former EMI label are among the most brilliant recordings of Kubelík's prime years. Mozart's late symphonies are the very standard that he continued to perform throughout his life, and there are re-recordings, but there are also rare session recordings of Borodin, some Schubert, and others that are only available on these recordings. All of the pieces are wonderfully performed from Kubelík's unique musical perspective that never misses the essence of the music. The master was digitized at 192kHz/24bit from the original analog master tapes in Japan and mastered separately for this release on the SACD and CD layers. New commentary is included.
