Furtwängler made a public broadcast recording of Wagner's orchestral masterpieces in 1952. This is the first SACD hybrid version of the five masterpieces, which are full of passion and spirit! In 1952, the year between the two "Ring" recordings (Milan, 1950 and Rome, 1953), Furtwängler conducted Wagner for the RAI (Italian Broadcasting Corporation) in Italy: "Die Walküre" Act I on January 14 (Rome), "Tristan" Prelude and Love Death on March 11 (Furtwängler conducted Wagner's orchestral masterpieces (five in all) in public broadcast recordings made by Furtwängler in 1952. The first three pieces were included in the program of the first half of the concert in Turin on June 6, 1952, and in the margins of the first act of the LP "Die Walkure" released by Chetola in 1985.The following year, in 1986, a CD (K33Y-195) of all five songs was released, coupled with the "Funeral March" from the May 31, 52, Act III performance of "Twilight of the Gods," and reissued in 1991 on KICC-7094, but this is the first appearance since then, and the first SACD of all five songs!
