The most interesting "Zarathustra" is the latest and highly anticipated album by the remarkable Lotto, who shakes the LSO, a high-performance modern orchestra, instead of the period instrumental armada of Les Siecle. The two pieces are Richard Strauss's "Zarathustra" and Debussy's "Yugoslavia," both of which are Roth's favorites. Both pieces are Lotto's favorites and have been recorded with other groups, but expectations are high only for the LSO this time around, as both pieces make full use of the 20th century's sophisticated orchestral techniques and showcase the orchestra's full potential. The LSO's virtuosity shines through. The LSO's virtuosity shines through, with Philip Cobb's trumpet playing at the beginning of "Zarathustra Speaks," and Simovici's violin solo in the Butoh Song. Lotto's narration is also exquisite and brilliant, reminding us that "Zarathustra Speaks" is a delightful piece of music even after the beginning. Debussy's "Yugi" was performed in Japan with Siecle, and this time it was a modern orchestra. Lotto's interpretation has more depth, and you can taste the motifs of light and color as they unfold in a flowing manner.It is a "play" for both children and adults. King International
