Description:
The Luxembourg Philharmonic's transparent sound is brilliant, and Jimeno brings out the beauty of the works beautifully in two Stravinsky works by Jimeno and the Luxembourg Philharmonic. The duo has already released a Stravinsky album (PTC-5186650/KKC-6011) containing "The Rite of Spring," "Carta Play" and "Agon," which was highly acclaimed, so this is another release to watch. The program includes "The Firebird" and "Apollo leading the Muse," and between 1910 and 1929, the year of Diaghilev's death, the Ballets Russes performed 12 ballets with music by Stravinsky, the first of which was "The Firebird" and the last was "Apollo leading the Muse" ( The "Muse" was originally composed for another purpose and was later used in the Ballets Russes). ≪In the post-Romantic and hallucinatory world of "The Firebird," Gimeno makes the orchestra mysterious. ≪In "Apollo leading the Muse" (1928), neoclassical elegance is in full swing. The story of the "Muse" is a simple one: Apollo, a symbol of stylized beauty and ideal beauty, is born, grows up, and enters Parnassus at the head of the musees.Hymeno makes the orchestra sound chamber-like and free. The performance shows the atchi- trusting relationship between Jimeno and the orchestra. Gustavo Jimeno (conductor) was born in Valencia, Spain. He is a versatile and passionate musician with extensive experience as a percussionist, chamber musician, soloist, and teacher. In 2001, he was appointed principal percussionist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and studied orchestral conducting at the Amsterdam Conservatory in order to further his studies as a musician. He studied orchestra conducting at the Amsterdam Conservatory of Music. In the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons, he was appointed Principal Percussionist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and Principal Percussionist of the Amsterdam Symphonic Orchestra con Brio from 2009 to 2012. In the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons, he served as Assistant Conductor to Mariss Jansons at the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (including the 2012 Christmas Concert). He was also invited by Claudio Abbado in 2013 to serve as Assistant Conductor for many performances. in 2015, he was appointed Music Director of the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra. He has been Music Director of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra since the 2021/22 season. King International
