From the "Melodiya x Obsession" series, which reissues Melodiya's classic albums and rare Melodiya recordings that have become obsolete or hard to obtain, comes the legendary "Karajan in Moscow" V.1 & 2, which was released in 2008, the 100th anniversary of Karajan's birth, but was sold out immediately and has been hard to obtain ever since. The legendary "Karajan in Moscow" Vol. 1 & 2 are now being reissued as a set!
This is a live recording of Karajan and the Berliner Philharmoniker in Moscow during their European tour in 1969. Vol. 1 includes "Fate & The Countryside," which overwhelmed the audience with a performance full of energy that could only have been achieved by this duo. Mariss Jansons, who was listening to the performance, said, "They were performing at 200% power.It is a pleasure to release Vol. 2, which includes the magnificent "Shostakovich: Symphony No. 10," which he described as "truly unbelievable. All classical music fans should listen to this reissue of Karajan's masterpieces, which have never faded away.
