Description:

Corgan's unreleased sound source! 'How many memories the great hall of the Moscow Conservatory evokes! There we heard wonderful performances by Soviet artists and by artists from abroad. I remember the concerts of our young violinists and pianists, who elevated Soviet musical art and spread it abroad. And I remember the enthusiastic welcome they received from the people of Moscow." ~ Leonid Kogan The year 2024 marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of Leonid Borisovich Kogan (1924-1982), Soviet People's Artist, legendary representative of the Russian Violin School, and beloved by many generations of musicians and listeners. The beginning of Kogan's discography dates back to 1945, and in 1987 Melodia began releasing the "Leonid Kogan, The Complete Violin Works" series.By 1992, 26 of the planned 32 recordings had been released, and the Russian Disc label has since taken over the project, leaving its unique interpretation and outstanding performance in the memories of many people, while at the same time preserving it in many recordings. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth, we are pleased to announce the release of previously unreleased recordings from 1977 and 1978, which were left in the Melodia archives! These great concertos, performed with the Soviet State Symphony Orchestra conducted by his son Pavel Kogan, join Kogan's discography. Performed in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, Kogan's performances are sure to attract great attention from violin fans and fans of historical recordings, not to mention Kogan fans.
