In 1965, after successfully completing a huge stadium tour including Shady Stadium, the Beatles spent about a month at Abbey Road Studios after returning to Japan, making full use of new recording techniques to complete their masterpiece "Rubber Soul". The Beatles returned to Japan and spent about a month at Abbey Road Studios. The rockin' number "Drive My Car," which incorporates Motown's black rhythm, is a version with a longer ending and more guitar phrases. Norwegian Woods" with sitar is recorded in three takes, including the making of the song. Michel" has a long ending and a pleasant take with a vivid acoustic guitar sound. Take 1 of "I'm Looking Through You" is an early version that was also released on "Anthology," but this one is the unmodified complete version.This is a rare take that shows a commitment to soul music in the closing shouts. On the other hand, "Run For Your Life," which features two more shouts from John at the end of the song, is also valuable. Day Tripper" and "We Can Work It Out" were recorded at the same time for a single, and the four members recorded the basic track before singing. Paul's vocals are on the 17th single track, "We Can Work It Out," and the 20th track, another take of "Day Tripper," is especially a must-hear. There are also chorus exercises by John, Paul, and George, as well as George Martin's take of the "In My Life" interlude on the organ. The instrumental "12-Bar Original," which was recorded for this album but never released, is included in a fully-played long version, which was impossible even for the official version. Rubber Soul" is a masterpiece in which the Beatles challenged the possibilities of multiple recordings, introduced the sitar for the first time in rock history, and defined a single album as a work of art.
