The Bavarian National Ballet presents "Tchaikovsky Overtures," a new ballet choreographed by Alexei Ratmansky for the Bavarian National Ballet (Munich Ballet). This is the long-awaited film version of "Tchaikovsky Overtures" (2022) created by Alexei Ratmansky, one of the leading classical ballet choreographers of our time, for the Bavarian National Ballet (Munich Ballet). Tchaikovsky's three "Fantasy Overtures" - "Hamlet," "The Tempest," and "Romeo and Juliet" - plus two smaller pieces make up the three-act piece. Tchaikovsky's sentiments from Shakespeare's plays are carefully scooped out with classical ballet steps to create a delicate and poetic world in this abstract ballet work. The stage design and costumes are by Jean-Marc Puissant, a master ballet designer who has won the Benoit and Laurence Olivier awards. The stage design, like an ink painting, highlights the "unfinished beauty" that lies between figuration and abstraction. The cast features talented dancers from the Bavarian State Ballet. Cher Wagman, who stars in "Hamlet" and "Romeo and Juliet," is particularly impressive in her stage presence.The music is performed by the Bavarian National Orchestra, conducted by ballet music specialist Mikhail Agresto.
