In 2024, Kazuki Yamada and the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra released the first recording of Saint-Saens' last opera "Dejanir," and now they have made the first recording of his previous opera, "Ancestors. ≪Considering that "Dejanir" was a reconstruction of the music for a play, "Ancestors" can be said to be the last work that was conceived as an opera from the beginning. The story is a tragedy with verismo elements, which is unusual for Saint-Saens, in that love is involved in a family quarrel on the island of Corsica during the French First Empire (similar to but different from "Romeo and Juliet"). The work was revived in Munich in March 2019, more than 100 years after its world premiere, and this time it is being performed in concert format in Monaco, where it was first performed, and recorded for the first time in the world in a session.
