A collection of Stravinsky's works conducted by Ingo Metzmacher, who is highly regarded for his outstanding interpretation of modern and contemporary music. The "Symphony for Wind Instruments," composed in 1920, is a single-movement work written in memory of Claude Debussy, who passed away in 1918, and incorporates elements of Russian folk music throughout.Composed in 1957, "Agon," Stravinsky's last ballet, partially in twelve-tone technique, was choreographed by George Balanchine and premiered by the New York City Ballet on December 1 of that year. Variations on "In Memory of Aldous Huxley," a six-minute piece dedicated to his friend, the English writer who died in 1963, was premiered in Chicago on April 17, 1965, by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Robert Kraft, and was performed by the New York City Ballet in 1966.
