The third collection of Ferdinand Thieriot's chamber works includes two piano quartets. A pupil of Eduard Marxsen, who was also Brahms' teacher, and a lifelong friend of Rheinberger, who was also a pupil of Thieriot's, Thieriot's works are full of precise counterpoint in the Brahmsian style. Thieriot was also an excellent cellist, and his cellos sing beautiful melodies in many of his works, making them all very enjoyable to listen to.
