Description:
This is a collection of flute works by contemporary French composer Nicolas Bacri. Born in Paris in 1961, Bacri studied composition at the Conservatoire de Paris, where he published works while still a student, and won the Grand Prix de Rome in 1983. He has received numerous commissions and awards from the French Ministry of Culture and the National Radio. This album contains his works for flute. The music is full of free-spirited, energetic rhythms and lucid melodies, with Bakri's unique language, which is full of influences of Jolivet, Messiaen, and Taffanel, but also inherits the tradition of French music, with harmonies sometimes similar to those of Fauré and Ravel. The Spring Sonata is the world premiere recording. It is performed by Daniel Bryczak, who is the principal flutist of the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra as well as a conductor. Naxos Japan
