Description:

The uncompromising interpretation of 18th-century French music. After studying under Chiara Banchini at the Schola Cantorum Basel, one of the world's leading centers for the study of ancient music, Baroque violinist David Plantier has been a core member of the Ensemble 415 led by Banchini and the Café Zimmermann, which has many famous recordings on ALPHA. David Plantier is a baroque violinist. This album is a sequel to Leclerc's Sonatas (RIC431/domestic edition NYCX-10263), which was released in 2021 and was highly acclaimed in Japan, winning a special prize in the "Record Geijutsu" magazine, From Aubert, who was one of the first French composers to publish a collection of concertos, to Dauvergne, who was the same age as Gluck and C.P.E. Bach and was active until the time of Marie-Antoinette, the sonatas by important French composers other than Leclerc, who is the greatest French violin composer of the first half of the 18th century, have been carefully selected. The works are elegant and dynamic, with a blend of the styles of the great Italian composers such as Corelli and Vivaldi, as well as the ancient French dance style, and are performed with a deeply polished interpretation that highlights the charm of each piece through the beautiful sound and exquisite interpretation of Plantier and others with strong centripetal force. Like Leclerc's works, many of the pieces feature heavy tonal techniques and rapid passages. The minor works are also strongly marked with pathos and passion, and the introduction of the contrabass as a bass continuo gives them a full sound that can be enjoyed only on recordings made by Les Plaisirs de Parnasse. This is a rich and rewarding recording that shows that French 18th century music was not only witty and stylish, but also full of depth and worthwhile exploration. Naxos Japan
