The Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra's ongoing series of Lutoslawski's orchestral works features a recording by Nicholas Colon, who will assume the position of Chief Conductor in 2021. In his early masterpiece "Concerto for Orchestra" and "Novelette," a short story, Colon's precise understanding of the work and lucid conducting showcase the orchestra's functionality to the fullest. The "Partita" dedicated to Anne-Sophie Mutter was performed by the virtuoso Tetzlaff. While Mutter tends to make her instruments sound rich, Tetzlaff sometimes lowers the volume to the point where it is almost inaudible, and at other times plays aggressively with a whispery sound, all with a strong desire to express himself.
