Description:

In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Sukrovaczewski, rare recordings from his native Poland will be released on CD for the first time! In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of conductor/composer Stanislaw Sukrowaczewski (October 3, 2023), a 1956 recording from the archives of the Warsaw Philharmonic in his native Poland is now available on CD for the first time. This interesting release includes Mozart's Requiem, for which there was no authorized recording, and the "Hero" in the fast tempo of his youth. Skrowaczewski was born in Lubów, Poland (now Lviv, Ukraine), and began piano and violin studies at the age of four. From 1946 onward, he conducted orchestras in Wroclaw, Krakow, and Katowice, and won the first prize at the International Conducting Competition in Rome in 1956, From 1956-59, he held a post with the Warsaw Philharmonic and conducted regularly in Poland. In the two concerts included here, you can hear him conducting on the eve of his international breakthrough. Of the six pieces, except for "Hero," there were no official recordings of Sukrowaczewski's five pieces, so this is a very valuable release.Skrovaczewski won a prize in the composition category of the Karol Szymanowski International Competition in 1947 and received a scholarship from the French government to study with Honegger (and Nadia Boulanger), so perhaps the February 11 program combining his own compositions (premieres) and those of his teacher is a tribute to him. The program on February 11 may be a tribute to him. The four soloists and the chorus tended to sing with a lot of passion, and the atmosphere of the time, which was a little more than ten years after World War II, which caused great loss of life, was also apparent in this area. The four soloists and the chorus tended to sing with a lot of passion and intensity. The most surprising part is the concluding "Amen" of the Lacrimosa. In the program on June 22, we will hear his typical colorful performance in the first half and the second half. The program on June 22 will feature his typical exquisite performance of the first half and the second half. The "Hero" lasts a little over 44 minutes. The Saarbrücken Symphony Orchestra (2005) and Yomiuri Symphony Orchestra (2012) recordings were both full of energy, but this recording is about five minutes shorter than those two recordings. The booklet (in Polish and English) is 84 pages long, including the cover, and is carefully produced, with a cover photo of the concert program of the day and the names of all members of the orchestra and chorus, in addition to the music commentary and introductions of the performers.**Although all the recordings were converted to CD from the original tapes, there are a few distortions in Beethoven's "Heroes" that are attributable to the master.
