Mechelen(T)A Nocte Temporis

Description:

Masterpieces by the most versatile singers of Mozart's time, performed with Van Mechelen's beautiful voice! In recent years, ALPHA has released a series of albums highlighting the activities of famous singers who colored the history of French music in the 17th and 18th centuries, and who graced the stages of many important works. Among them, ALPHA has been introducing male singers in the high register, known as haute-contre, who were unique to France at that time, especially the famous Belgian singer Reynout van Mechelen, who has been a mainstay of the European classical music scene with his vivid and beautiful voice in this difficult vocal range, and the group of great singers gathered around him. Following Duményi, who premiered Lully's masterpieces in the 17th century, and Gériot, who worked with Rameau in the mid-18th century, they introduce Joseph LeGros (1739-1793), a singer and entertainer who often appears in Mozart's letters during his visits to Paris. In the latter half of the reign of Louis XV, when symphonies and concertos from German-speaking countries were gaining attention in Paris, she emerged in the 1760s, and her acting skills and flexible singing over a wide range of registers attracted the attention of many people, including the master singer Gluck, who was invited by Queen Marie-Antoinette from her family in Vienna and thrilled Paris. The title role in the Paris version of "Orfeo e Euridice" was a role that will go down in history. Regardless of the composer's fame, we have carefully selected songs for Rouglot from various masterpieces from the 1760s and 1770s. From the dramatic expression of the eve of Romanticism to the lustrous melodic beauty of the Rococo period, you will enjoy the unique flavor of French music of the Classical period with a rich orchestra of ancient instruments and van Mechelen's beautiful voice in a program full of excitement and discovery that is not to be missed. The interpretation of the orchestral parts, including the introduction of a rare 18th century French clarinet supervised by Nicolas Saux of the Centre Baroque de Musique de Versailles, is also elaborate.
