Penelope Thwaites is an Australian composer and pianist. Her interpretations of Percy Grainger's works have been highly acclaimed, as well as her own musical works. The album includes a tribute to two composers who have influenced her, Chopin and Delius, three works for string ensemble, including "To Irina," written for the Russian dissident poet Irina Ratushinskaya, and two suites for two pianos, "Lambeth's Garland and "The Selfish Big Man" based on Oscar Wilde's fable. Piano performances in the suites are by Thwaites herself and her close friend Benjamin Frith. Naxos Japan
