Demaret's "Sylcée," highly acclaimed on the French musical stage after Lully's death! Henri Demaret was highly acclaimed on the French musical stage during the reign of Louis XIV, and was considered one of his successors after Lully's death in 1687. The "Sylcé" is a work from 1694. It is written in the style of lyric tragedy established by the elder Lully, with a dramatic and dignified style and a colorful orchestra. The recording of this recording, made in 2022 and conducted by Sebastien Derain, has recently been released and is attracting a great deal of attention in Europe and the U.S. This disc features a recording of "Sincerity" made in 1694 by the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra. This disc was recorded in Bremen over a period of nearly two weeks as a joint production of the Boston Festival of Ancient Music, the Bremen Broadcasting Company, and cpo. Lucille Ricciardo, a mid-career French mezzo-soprano, sings the title role with American tenor and Grammy Award winner Aaron Sheehan and others. Naxos Japan
