He has written many orchestral and instrumental works, but his choral works in particular have been performed extensively and have won him many fans in the UK and around the world, where professional and amateur choral groups have incorporated his serene and beautiful works into their repertoire. is comprised of works from Poland's centuries-old religious music tradition, all written in a sweet, melodic style with a sense of tonality reminiscent of Gretzky, Pärt, and Tavener. The Latvian National Choir has a long history, having been founded in 1942. Since 1997, Latvian Marlis Sirmais has been the artistic director and chief conductor of the choir.
