The Chicago-based Grammy Award-winning Third Coast Percussion is an ensemble that has received critical acclaim from BBC Music Magazine and other critics. This release features works by four composers, all of which are world premiere recordings. All are world premiere recordings. Danny Elfman is a four-time Academy Award-nominated film composer. He is an outstanding musician who has scored more than 100 films, including "Scissorhands," "Batman" (the first film), and "The Nightmare Before Christmas. This percussion quartet is structured like a four-movement symphony, with unique acoustics reminiscent of Indonesian gamelan and Shostakovich's works. Philip Glass' "Metamorphosis I" is arranged by Third Coast Percussion with marimba, vibraphone, glockenspiel, and melodica. Perspective" by electronic musician Jlin Jin was originally composed as electronic music, but Third Coast Percussion arranged it into a version that can be performed live. It is a beautiful and complex piece of music, beautifully performed.Rubix" is an improvisational collaboration with the New York flute duo Flutronix. Naxos Japan
