Description:

A collection of unknown masterpieces by a composer of rare operas. Massenet is known for his masterpieces such as "Werther," "Thais," "Elodiead," and other masterpieces from the Belle Époque period, many of which were recorded for the first time in the world. In addition to his operas, Massenet composed a wide range of other works, including suites for orchestra, piano concertos, and countless songs and piano pieces. Palazetto Bru Zane, who has worked to restore the unknown music of 19th-century France, has brought together a collection of Massenet's songs with orchestral accompaniment, an unknown area of his oeuvre that has not been given the opportunity to shine in the spotlight. At the end of the 19th century, when France was rethinking its opera-oriented past and developing a taste for highly artistic musical performances, the demand for this type of music, which was suitable for singers to appear as guests in orchestral concerts, grew rapidly, and the popular composer Massenet responded sensitively to this trend.Hervé Niquet, who has emerged from the forefront of ancient instrumental music and continues to make notable achievements in French 19th century works, conducts this delightful selection of world premiere recordings of most of the pieces, which include several of his own orchestral works as well as orchestral arrangements made before his death. The singers are also a lineup of the best talents in the world of European opera, especially in French-speaking countries, and the elite Orchestre de chambre de Paris will bring out the charm of each orchestration to the fullest with their exquisite sound production. As usual with this label, the extensive liner notes (in English, French, and German) are also an attraction. Naxos Japan
