The first release of the Grand Piano label's 10th anniversary project. This 10-CD set of works by female composers is released in time for International Women's Day! Women were considered unfit to compose, denied opportunities to present their work, ostracized from cultural circles, forced into the home, and judged first and foremost by their appearance. However, it is said that there have been more than 6,000 women who composed music throughout history. They made their own way in their musical lives through their own struggles. Brillon de Jouy, who remained the wife of a good family who also enjoyed music; Montgerol, who was blessed with a marquise's position and lost her husband in the French Revolution but survived with her musical talent; Simanovskaya, whose piano skills and outstanding appearance charmed even Goethe; Kapler, who was noted as a passionate promoter of modern Czech music but died of illness at the age of 25; and Karpovskaja, who was a great pianist, but was also a great composer and composer of music. The lives of 19 female composers, including Kaplerová, who died of illness at the age of 25, and Sri Lanka's Ekanayaka, who continued to write contemporary tonal music incorporating elements of pop and folk songs, are inscribed here. --Takuo Yoshiike (Supervisor), Naxos Japan
