Eisler, Hanns (1898-1962)

Description:

Composer Hans Eisler will celebrate the 60th anniversary of his death in 2022. Although he was a close disciple of Arnold Schoenberg, they parted ways due to political conflicts. Since then, he collaborated with playwright Bertolt Brecht and pursued his own line in dramatic and film music. This 2-CD set contains orchestral works, plays, and songs covering most of Eisler's creative activities. Of these, "The Last Night," music for Karl Krauss's play "The Last Days of Mankind," is a masterpiece that successfully reflects the satirical content of the play in music, and is a masterpiece of Eisler's thought and musicality to the fullest. The music is conducted by HK Gruber, who is known as an authority on Eisler's works. Heinz Karl "Nari" Gruber, born in Austria in 1943, is a composer, conductor, double bassist, and singer, and is a leading member of the Vienna Musikverein as a composer. Some say that he is a descendant of Franz Xaver Gruber, the composer of "Silent Night," but the truth is unclear. As a child, he was a member of the Vienna Boys' Choir, and his nickname "Nari" is a remnant of that time.He can also write in a variety of styles and is a highly regarded jazz performer. As a conductor, he is a multi-talented musician who has recorded works by Chelha and Einem, as well as Hans Eisler and Kurt Weill. Naxos Japan
