Description:
The album is entitled "Semina Rerum = Seeds of Things". It contains violin sonatas by eight composers active during the Italian Baroque period, all eight of whom were violin virtuosos and lovers of the instrument, and some of these works were so highly regarded that they were published beyond the Alps at the time. The main point of this album is that it mainly contains works written in the key of "D minor" (including works in the same dominant key of D major and its genus key of A major), which is said to be easy to play and sound good on the violin because it contains all the notes of the violin strings, and all the pieces show the ingenuity of each composer. Each piece also shows the ingenuity of the composer. The use of viola d'amore as a bass accompaniment is also noteworthy. The sweet and beautiful sound adds to the splendor of the piece. Roberto Alonso, a violinist born in Vigo, Spain in 1983, began playing the violin at the age of six and moved to London in 2001. After studying at Yehudi Menuhin School of Music, he has been active internationally and currently teaches at the Hong Kong Baptist University. His instrument is a Francesco Maurizi made in 1835.
