This is the second collection of choral works by British composer Richard Panchev. His works in the English religious music tradition are internationally acclaimed, and the London Choral Sinfonia, which gave a wonderful performance of the first collection (ORC100144) recorded in 2015, continues to bring us beautiful singing. This collection includes unaccompanied choral works and choral works with string accompaniment, but the two nocturnes dedicated to Benjamin Britten, based on solo organ works, are performed with string ensemble and flugelhorn. Several of the works, including the Frankfurt Evening Canticles, were written during Panchev's tenure as music director of Frankfurt's "Christ the King" church in 1993-95, while the Missa Brevis and the meditative "Prayer of St. Kolumba" were performed from 2010 to 2019 and works from his time working at "St. George's" church in Johannesburg.
