With "Harold"! Daniel Weissmann is the general director of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liège, based in Belgium. He is also an excellent viola player, and this second collection of romantic viola works includes works from French-speaking countries, most notably Berlioz's masterpiece "Harold in Italia. The viola part, arranged by Hugh MacDonald, an English musicologist well known for his research on Berlioz, differs from the previously recorded Liszt arrangement in that not only the solo part of the original but also the orchestral part is shared with the piano, creating a duet that is very satisfying to listen to. This is a piece that allows you to fully enjoy the singing spirit of the viola. Naxos Japan
