Two works by Magnus Lindbergi, one of the leading contemporary Finnish composers, conducted by Hannu Lintu. Two Episodes" was premiered at the London Proms in 2016 as a prelude to Beethoven's "Ninth." The instrumentation and structure of the piece is modeled after "The Ninth," and it is unique in its colorful acoustics, with Beethoven-inspired melodies woven throughout. Lindberg says that the piece can be performed independently of Beethoven. The Accusation" is the first full-scale work for voice and orchestra for Lindberg, who has not worked much with vocal works in the past. The text is based on actual court interrogation scenes that took place in the French Revolution, former East Germany, and contemporary America, and Anu Komsi's soprano solo voice provides a tense exchange. Anu Komsi's soprano voice delivers a tense exchange of opinions. This ambitious work reflects "universal human values" that transcend time. Naxos Japan
