This is a collection of works "based on folk songs" by three leading Czech composers of the 19th and 20th centuries. Dvořák's "Moravian Duet" was written at the request of Jan Neff, a wealthy merchant who was the owner of the house where Dvořák gave private piano lessons in his youth. For the enjoyment of the Neff family, Dvořák arranged folk songs one after another, and it is said that he himself gradually became aware of the wonder of folk songs, which led him to create his own unique style. This inspired Dvořák's friend Bendl, who also wrote lyrical texts. He, too, used the lyrical text "In Nature" to write his "Twelve Duets. Another composer is Bodlová, a Czech woman of the 20th century. This one is a duet with a modern approach, extending the scope of melodies not only from the Czech Republic but also from Eastern Europe and the Balkans. Naxos Japan
