Description:

The definitive video of Niquet's 1754 version of "Messiah" at Versailles! Niquet, a conductor of great talent including Madouffe and Gaillard, has been involved in many choral works of the 17th century French court, such as Lully, Charpentier, and Gilles, and has achieved remarkable results in the performance of baroque opera. In recent years, Hervé Nicquet has been on the podiums of leading orchestras in France and Belgium, and has recorded and performed a number of works from the French repertoire of the 19th century, including works by Berlioz and Saint-Saens. This talented conductor, who has been at the forefront of French conducting, recorded Handel's masterpieces in the former royal chapel of the Palace of Versailles. Along with the performance scene of Le Concert Spirituel, where many soloist-level players of ancient instruments gather, "Messiah" will be presented as a thrilling human story. Speaking of Handel with Niquet, the film of "Music on the Water" recorded at the Victoria & Albert Hall in London is also well known.Niquet, who has always given full and rich performances of operas with a sense of dramatic dynamism in all of his recordings, is delighted to have recorded "Messiah" with such enthusiasm in the video. Focusing on the narrative that pervades the abstract script of "Messiah," Niquet describes it as "operatic music based on the story of the life of Jesus, the Messiah." Adopting the 1754 Abandoned Child Foster Home version, which Hogwood once recorded and attracted much attention, he brings the rich plot's ups and downs to life. In the "Hallelujah" section, the virtuoso Madoff plays the natural trumpet without finger holes, as was the style in the 18th century, with Alice Pierrot, known for her famous recording of Biber's "Rosary Sonatas" on the Alpha label, and Gaillard of the Ensemble Amaryllis on the oboe. ...... and a full instrumental lineup. This is a release to be watched closely, a video unique to the "Nique of the 21st Century" that will excite the eyes and ears. Naxos Japan
