Founded in 1918, the Cleveland Orchestra has grown into one of the world's leading orchestras in half a century, beginning with the first Nikolai Sokolov and continuing with music directors such as Rosinski, Reinsdorf, Sell, Maazel, and Dohnányi, among other greats. on September 29, 2018. Franz Welser-Möst, who has led the orchestra since 2002, entertained the audience at the 100th anniversary concert on September 29, 2018, with a collection of music from his native Austria's capital, Vienna. The first Mozart piece to be performed features the world's most popular pianist, Lang Lang. The orchestra played in perfect harmony with Lang Lang, who sang deeply in Mozart's concerto, one of the few written in a minor key, and the orchestra played the mesto bars perfectly. In the rarely performed "The Shadowless Woman" symphonic fantasy, the orchestra gives us a taste of the happiness of being enveloped in a superb acoustic with exquisite control of the beautiful melodic lines and overflowing harmonies. The flowing sound and chic singing of "Viennese Temperament" are a true testament to the virtuosity of Mesto.The only French work in this recording, "La Valse," written as a homage to the Vienna Waltz, is a graceful yet steady and elevating piece with a skillful construction that never breaks down, even in the coda. The concert was a wonderful demonstration of the maturity of Mesto and the Cleveland Orchestra, now in their sixteenth year. Naxos Japan
