Michael Korstic is known as "Dr. Beethoven" for his highly acclaimed complete Beethoven sonatas on the OEHMS label. Of course, his repertoire is not limited to Beethoven, but also includes Liszt, Reger, French works by Debussy and Keclan, and modern works by Hinastera and Kabalevsky. This work is Rachmaninoff: Piano Concerto No. 3, which is the pianist's royal repertoire. This is Korstic's first recording, and he delivers a superb performance that is full of empathy as well as superb virtuosity. The album also includes the Corelli Variations recorded in February 2018 and the Piano Sonata No. 2 from August 2005, a disc that also confirms his musicality that has matured over the past 10 years.
