ROCKA SHACKA is pleased to announce the release of a compilation of material from Links, a rare Jamaican rocksteady label run by B.B. Seaton, the leader of the Gaylads. Although not well known to the general public, it is important among collectors as the label that released Ken Boothe's famous song "Can't You See". The label was founded by B.B. Seaton. He was the leader of the Gaylads, who had a string of big hits during the ska~rock steady period. There is another reason why this label is considered important. At the time, no matter how many hits were produced by big-name producers, no money came in. The Gaylads, led by Seaton, and other big names who supported the label revolted against this exploitative system. Ken Boothe, Delroy Wilson, and the Melodians. These four artists came together as a community, and the label was born to take all rights and dividends into their own hands.Seaton was deeply involved in the creation, arrangement, and production of the music, and each artist seemed to have given it their all, producing a full lineup of songs that were the epitome of rock steady. The name of the label, "Links," and the chains on the logo symbolized his ironclad unity. However, due to the all-around obstruction of big-name producers, lack of hits, and the misfortune of internal divisions, this bold experiment in Jamaican music history would come to an end after only two years. The moment you drop the needle on this album, you can feel the quality of the label's work. It's such a parade of songs. This is a wonderful album that should be listened to by collectors of rock steady music as well as by a wide range of listeners regardless of genre. The album comes with excellent liner notes by Brian Keillo.
