Debut album by Tony Joe White, the soulful swamp rocker known for his song "Pork Salad Annie"! Tony Joe White is a songwriter/guitarist from Oak Grove, Louisiana, USA. He began playing music in high school, and after graduation he played in nightclubs in Texas and Louisiana before signing with Monument Records. After releasing several singles, he produced an album under the production of Billy Swan. This debut album features Muscle Shoals/Nashville musicians including David Briggs (piano, organ), Norbert Putnam (bass), and Jerry Carrigan (drums).From original songs like "WILLIE AND LAURA MAE JONES" (covered by Dusty Springfield) and Tony Joe's signature song "POLK SALAD ANNIE" (covered by Elvis Presley) to Johnny Taylor's hit "WHO'S MAKING LOVE," Jimmy Webb's "WICHITA LINEMAN," and the Bacharach number "LOOK OF LOVE." Tony Joe's soulful vocals can be heard throughout the album over a funky, earthy swamp rock sound. Bonus tracks include four additional songs, including a single not included on the album.
