The original album, plus three bonus tracks, offers the best of space music. First CD release in Japan. Telstar" was a monster hit, the first instrumental song to chart at No. 1 in the UK and USA (in 1962). This is the sound of the future created by Joe Meek, the most brilliant producer in the British pop music world in the 1960s. Telstar refers to the world's first communications satellite, Telstar 1, which the U.S. launched on July 10, 1962. Tornadoes was initially created by Meek with a group of session musicians, and at first only did studio work, but later made their record debut with the song "Love and Fury," which failed to become a hit. Later, however, the Telstar satellite was launched, and "Telstar" was created by Meek to commemorate the launch. The organ played most of the solo parts, which was unusual for an instrumental band. The claviolin, an instrument that produces a mechanical, spacy sound, was used, plus Meek's timeless mixing. A spacey sound was created.
