A new wave on the British folk scene! Donovan's memorable first album! Born Donovan Philips Leitch in Glasgow, Scotland on May 10, 1946, he moved with his family to Hatfield, Hertfordshire, north of London, when he was 10 years old. He eventually found his way onto the folk scene in St. Albans, where he was influenced by the playing styles of local players such as Mick Softley and Mac McLeod, as well as guitar heroes such as Bert Jansch, who was based in London at the time, and his charisma as a performer who adapted to a variety of media. Donovan's charisma and talent as a pop songwriter quickly blossomed, and he left St. Albans to package tours and concerts with popular pop acts, racking up hit records in the UK and the US and becoming one of the leading pop icons of the 60s.
